A Journey Into Self : The Birth of Style in Art.

Developing a style as an artist is as rewarding as it is complicated. It’s one of the most sought-after feats on the journey to becoming a recognizable artist. Most of us want to stand out, to create timeless work that’s instantly recognizable throughout culture.

But how does an artist get there? How do we create a visual, auditory or written structure, that feels intrinsically our own?

I don’t have a one to one formula for this, and everyone’s artistic journey looks different. However, I do believe there are ways we can all get closer to developing or refining our artistic style, if we’re honest with ourselves about what inspires us and open to evolving ourselves over time.

Two Words: Experience & Taste.

This might seem like a no brainer, but I think people gravely underestimate how much the evolution and refinement of an artist are tied to personal growth and taste. Developing a style isn’t just about repetition or technique, it’s about the moments in life that shape who you are, what inspires you and how those moments silently fold into your work through the subconscious and conscious.

I developed my style over time, not by constantly trying to break the wheel, but by falling deeper in love with my favorite genres and mediums of art. Whether it’s music, film, gaming, literature, photography, or painting, I doubled down on consuming the things that sparked something in me. The things that brought me joy, stirred my imagination, and reignited my passion even during creative droughts.

Taste is crucial to how we express and define ourselves. The way we internalize our interests naturally reflects how we see the world, how we treat others, how we respond to conflict and how we create. Style isn’t something you sit down and decide on. It forms in the background as you make choices about who you are.

I personally have a deep love for the mythology of superheroes I grew up reading. That early fascination with the conflict between good and evil evolved into my obsession with balance, symmetry, contrast and ultimately led to my desire to shoot black and white photography. I didn’t plan that connection, it emerged through time, reflection, and consistency.

It’s important to understand that taste and inspiration don’t always translate directly into the style you develop. You might love surrealist paintings, but end up making ambient music. Or you might grow up inspired by novels and end up expressing that influence through sculpture or fashion. Inspiration doesn’t always mimic itself, it reforms. It reshapes itself in tandem with your lived experience and becomes something filtered through your own lens.

Your style isn't or wont be born of a formula or a checklist. It’s a slow accumulation of choices, influences, and personal truths.

It’s the result of showing up again and again, even when the outcome feels uncertain. Over time, the repetition of that honesty builds a voice. That voice might shift or evolve, but it remains rooted in something you picked up and internalized so deeply that it transformed into something beyond what you anticipated.

Let yourself grow into your style, rather than trying to chase or define it too early. Focus on what moves you, stay curious, and pay attention to what keeps calling you back. You’ll start to notice patterns. Certain ideas, shapes, themes, or colors will appear again and again, even without trying. That’s your style trying to speak find harmony with your soul

So in summation, consume art and grow closer with the things you love and eventually your Art will become what its meant to.

So I took a look over some of our "leading Light" accounts in the crypto art space. I scrolled back a few weeks, a month or 2 maybe, on each of them, and you know what I saw? Not a single post talking
